ACCOMMODATION: Chaa Creek Cottages are set in lush tropical gardens along the banks of the Macal River in the foothills of the Maya Mountains of Western Belize. The cottage compound, within the Chaa Creek Nature Reserve, provides a perfect compromise between comfort and a true wilderness experience. Each palm-thatched cottage has Mexican tiled floors, large mahogany beds, original artwork and private bathrooms with hot showers. Spacious sundeck verandahs allow guests to view wildlife and interact with nature.
The Lodge at Chaa Creek has been family friendly since its inception when Mick and Lucy Fleming built two small guest cottages while raising their young family along the banks of the Macal River. Kids and grandparents naturally figured into our evolution as a full service nature based lodge and activities center. Guests' comments make it clear that Chaa Creek is still very much a family experience.
Chaa Creek offers a unique rainforest adventure in natural and safe surroundings. Situated in a 330-acre private nature reserve, it is well staffed and features spacious lawns and manicured walkways surrounding the cottages, dining and recreational areas. The miles of reserve trails are well maintained, yet offer an exciting view into the rainforest environment. There are no dangerous animals in the Macal River, which is only a short walk from the cottages and provides some of the best swimming and canoeing in Belize.
Adventure abounds within our rainforest environment. With hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and canoeing, as well as guided nature walks and river exploration included in on-site activities, there are plenty of choices to excite every member of the family. There are also tours to the ancient Mayan cities of Xunantunich and Tikal, the mysterious Chumpiate and Actun Tunichel Muknal caves, the Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve waterfalls, and the Belize Zoo. We also arrange family friendly trips, accommodation and experiences along Belize's stunning coast and cayes.
Chaa Creek has always been committed to providing an ecologically educational, as well as recreational experience. The Natural History Centre and Butterfly Farm, both an easy walk from the cottages, have made learning about the natural and cultural wonders enjoyable for thousands of overseas and local visitors and students in Belize.

RESTAURANT & BAR: Our cuisine features a mixture of Caribbean, Mexican and Belizean dishes served under an enormous umbrella of thatch in our large, airy restaurant with its own temperature controlled wine cellar. The dining room, bar and cottages are all constructed from local hardwoods and thatched with bay leaf palm.
A range of activities including hiking, swimming, canoeing, horseback riding, bird-watching, guided nature walks and river trips are available, and the Reserve's Natural History Centre and Butterfly Farm are within easy walking distance of the cottages.
CONFERENCE FACILITY: Over the years, Chaa Creek has hosted a number of scientific, educational, professional and entertainment groups. The new Conference Centre, which opened in May 2000, now offers an attractive and efficient destination for meetings, workshops, and seminars.
