| South of San Salvador on the Pacific coast is an area called the Costa del Sol. We arrived on a Sunday night and stayed for two days at the Pacific Paradise Hotel. The rooms of the 100 room hotel are clean and airconditioned. Although it was June and the rainy season it was still 85F and sunny. The room charge was $40/person/night (off season) and included breakfast, lunch and dinner and a drink at each meal. We had Steak and Lobster both nights, fresh grilled Corvina at lunch served poolside and great breakfasts. The grounds are covered with coconut palms and the beach is awesome. We got up at 5am and swim in the surf both mornings. |

The Hotel Pacific Paradise offers spacious bungalows each with 2 bedrooms (one with a queen bed, the other with a bunkbed) comfortably accommodating up to 3 surfers, ice cold a/c (don't leave it on high or you'll freeze to death at night), with private bathroom, living dining room w/ Direct TV, and refrigerator. The hotel has an excellent restaurant serving fresh seafood and a variety of El Salvadorean and international cuisine, along with the best tropical drinks and cold beers.
The hotel has a very nice and large pool (30 meter lap pool), a white sand beach, and is fully gated with 24/7 armed security presence. The surf out front is a beachbreak which can be fun on small-medium swells with no winds but on heavier swells has treacherous currents and tends to close out. |
